Secretariat Library is a departmental library and therefore membership
which is free of cost is given only to the personnel and officers
serving in the Secretariat. However Officers belonging to the IAS, IPS
and KAS Cadre can obtain membership of the Secretariat Library.
Government Servants who are on deputation to the Secretariat can also
obtain membership after depositing an amount of Rs.
1000/- (Rupees One thousand Only) which is refundable and
membership fee of Rs 20/ - (Non refundable), However such officers should surrender their membership on
completion of their deputation period. Officers who have retired from
the Secretariat can also obtain the Membership on remitting a fee of Rs.
400-00(refundable) + 20-00(non-refundable). A member is allowed to
borrow 4 books and 2 magazines on becoming a member of the library( 2
books and 2 magazines in case of retired officers). The books are loaned
for a period of 15 days and are allowed to be renewed for 30 more days
depending upon the demand for such books. A Fine (Over dues) is
collected for those books which are not returned within their due dates
at the following rates--
0.50 Paisa for the first 15 days and 1.00 rupee for each day thereafter.
An opportunity to obtain Membership
of the Secretariat Library for the Government Employees working
in Bangalore in other Government Departments has also been made.
A Deposit of Rs.1000/-
(Rupees One thousand Only) which is refundable
and Non refundable Membership
fee of Rs.
20/- has to be paid to
obtain the Membership. The period of such membership is valid
for two years and can be renewed upon the request. Such Members
are allowed to borrow two books and two magazines
